FRIDAY, AUGUST 12

“I wanted you to get a good night’s sleep.”
What Paul said when he came into our room at 6:00 a.m. after being awake all night in the Faculty Lounge.  Having only one room is a huge problem now – even the ear plugs are not working so well when Paul is snoring loudly.  This morning I will insist on another room.
One of my colleagues, John, has brought his family with him – Mary and two young sons.  Amon is up eating Frosted flakes for breakfast while his dad, John, is making coffee.  Evidently they are going to make a practice run to Edinburgh to see how long it takes to get there in the morning so when the boys start school next week, they will know how long it takes – “I don’t want them to be even a few minutes late; it will stress them out” (Mary, the mom).  Amon and Thomas, grades 5 &6 will be going to school in Scotland for the year – after our Fall
semester at Dalkeith, John will be on sabbatical and they will spend it in Edinburgh; great planning!
